INTRODUCTION:& BRIEF HISTORY OF COMM DEPT.:-
The department of commerce was started in the year 1970-71 in pre university mode having six regular faculties in villege-Jharbeda of Sundargarh district which is a most tribal area of orissa. The department started degree course with 32 seats out of which 16 honors seats. In the year 1978-79 the department stared the course in b.com degree mode. In the year 1981-82 the honors seats increases from 16 to 32 seats. In the year 1989-90 the seats increases from 64 to 128. I the year 2016-17 the pass subject in commerce stream conversion to accounting honors and in the year 2017-18 the honors seats increases from 128 to 256. Most of our students are from general category in the earlier period but now 50% of students are from SC & ST category. Most of our students are well established in establishing their own business and others are engaged in reputed business undertaking.

Our Mission : To achieve enrichment in the quality of teaching, career oriented extension activities.
Our objectives:
The objective of the department is to impart knowledge and skills considered essential for facing the challenges of the rapidly changing environment in the field of trade, industry and commerce. The department is also aimed at imparting knowledge and skill to carry on the career oriented courses in the field of trade and commerce.
