The Department of Zoology at Rajgangpur Dalmia College, Odisha, has been a cornerstone of the institution since its inception in the academic year 1986-87. Initially, the department offered Zoology as a pass subject for undergraduate students. The sustained efforts of the faculty and the growing interest in the subject led to the introduction of the Zoology Honours program in 2007. The department has since played a pivotal role in the academic growth of students from rural and underprivileged backgrounds, particularly those from the tribal-dominated regions of Sundargarh and other districts in Odisha.
