Botany

The Department of Botany was established in the year 1980 with ISC. It is one of the oldest department in Dalmia College, Rajgangpur. It has a glorious history. Dr. C.B. Dutta had imparted his teaching in the department. In 1986-87, Botany (Pass) was opened and in 1990-91, Botany (Honours) was opened with only 5 students. At present, Botany Hons. seat has been extended to 24 seats. The department offers 3 years B.Sc in Botany. The department is enriched with learning resources such as slides,herbarium, seminar library, charts which help the students in independent learning. The department of Botany also has a botanical garden with various medicinal and ornamental plants. The department has well equipped laboratory with modern instruments. The department also organises departmental seminars regularly to help students develop critical thinking skills, improve communication skills ,gain confidence in public speaking and to give them a sense of responsibility. The department also organises study tour to botanical gardens and other places so as to study the biodiversity, forest ecosystem, to explore about medicinal plants and to create awareness to conserve our nature and rich biodiversity. The department has experienced and qualified faculty members who are student- friendly and guide the students as a mentor. The department also conducts remedial classes to help the weaker students in their studies.

The aim of the department is to develop an aptitude towards science and nature, to provide modern, skill- oriented and quality education to the students so that they can confidently face the job market.
